Jon Jeffers Journal Log
Entry 1 July 1st
It was a long hard trip. At times we thought we might not make it. The constant purr of the engine kept us reassured that our destination was nearing closer. We had to make a stop in a strange land known by the natives as St. Louis. It turned out to be an odd place indeed. Giant animals that couldn't move or regrow hair resided in a cave underneath a huge metal contraption known only as "The Arch". We continued North from here watching a dazzling sunset followed by an enchanted night. The moon seemed to make the fog in the fields glow as if they were alive. We stopped our craft so our resident photographer could climb to the observation post to document said events. The following day we saw one of the most ornate structers I have ever seen. It was in a center of a civilization known as Iowa. They seemed to have devoted themselves to randomness. A gold plated palace in the middle of a modern city was one example. A Pagoda on the far river bank another. The land was full of beast that the kept as pets. Some of them could only turn in one dirction, but alas the people here were friendly and fed us well so I can only hope that this will set the trend that will be followed in future lands visited on our dawnting quest.
